Wren Wade was the 11th child of Henry Wade and Louisa Greenwell.  In 1940 he owns his home valued at $200 and is a 'Hatcherman' at a chicken ranch.

The 1940 Census - June Gantenbein Suckow

1940 US Census - Sandy Precinct, Clackamas County, Oregon

June Elsie Gantenbein Suckow (1910-1995) was the oldest daughter of Fred Gantenbein and Fanny Greenwell.  She married Milton Suckow and had four children.  She and her cousin, Margaret Upton Waning, carried on a lively correspondence and visited each other regularly.  In 1940 the family lived in the Sandy Precinct of Clackamas County.  They owned their home and Milton operated logging equipment.

The 1940 Census - Herbert Greenwell

1940 U.S. Census - Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon

Herbert Greenwell and his wife Grace lived in Portland in 1940.  Both were high school graduates.  They rented a home for $16 a month and Herbert was employed as a bookkeeper for an electric power company.  Herbert was the oldest son of John Franklin and Leora Greenwell.  He was brother to Evangeline, Florence, and Clarence.  Both Clarence and Herbert attended several Greenwell reunions in the 1980's.

The 1940 Census - Louisa Greenwell Wade

US Census - Molalla, Clackamas County, Oregon

Born in 1867, Louisa Greenwell Wade was the oldest of Benjamin and Jerushia Greenwell's children.  In the 1940 she and her husband Henry resided in a home they owned valued at $3000.  Henry was 80 years old and listed as "have private income" for his occupation.  He and Louisa had 8th grade educations.

By 1940 George, his wife Lilian, and daughter Esther had moved to Dallas, Oregon. George appears to have had more schooling than many of his brothers and sisters, including one year of high school.  George was a machinist in a machine shop, and daughter Esther, a college graduate, was a High School English teacher.

In 1940 Fred and Fanny Greenwell Gantenbein lived at 622 SE 19th Street in a home they rented for $15 a month.  Fred provided the information to the enumerator stating that he had only 2 years of school, while Fannie had attended school for 8  years.  Fred is listed as truck driver for a 'transfer company' - we'd say a 'moving company' now.

The 1940 census finds sisters Evangeline and Florence Greenwell living together.  They were the daughters of John Franklin Greenwell and Leora Agnes Bale.  Florence later lived in Colorado and attended some of the Greenwell Family Reunions in the 1980's.
