When James Waning began school in 1917, Miss Nina Terwillager was his teacher at Porcupine Creek School outside of Wilsall, MT.

Back in 1926, James Waning received a diploma when he graduated from the 8th grade in Wendling, Oregon.  It indicated that he should be accepted for admission to any high school in the state of Oregon.

While we do not have a high school senior picture of Margaret McAdam, the photo above was taken in 1891 - just a couple of years before she graduated.

This diploma belonged to Margaret McAdam.  She was an 1893 graduate of Chatfield High School.  She then went on to Winona Normal School and a 35 year teaching career.

Eighty years ago today James Willard Waning received his High School Diploma from Pleasant Hill High School.  It is interesting to note that the diploma cover says Union High No. 1 which is what PHHS was called into the late 1920's.

In 1977 Churchill High School had the school janitor as their lead speaker - I kid you not!

It was a wonderful night!  I'm not sure that Matt realizes just how momentous high school graduation is.  For twelve years he and his peers have been tromping along the same path - kindergarten, grades 1-8, and high school.  Now they will diverge - work, school, and a myriad of life adventures!
