Jacob Grim - Probate - 1877 - Letter to Judge on Value of Estate Sale

In the Fall of 1877, Hiram Straight ask the Court to allow Jacob Grim's estate to be settled and the proceeds distributed amongst the heirs.

"In the County Court of Clackamas County, Oregon

In the matter of the Estate of Jacob Grimm dec’d.

To Hon. N.W. Randall County Judge of said County –

The undersigned administrator of said estate respectfully reports – that in pursuance of an order of the court in the above entailed matter, made and entered on the 30th day of August 1877, after giving due notice of the time and place of sale as by law prescribed to wit by printing in their public places in this county written notices containing a list of the property to be sold, together with the time place and terms of said sale; the time specified being September 10th 1877 at 10 o’clock A.M., the placing being the dwelling house of deceased in said county, and the terms as in this order of sale directed – I did on said day as said notices specified & at said place, proceed to sell…"

"…all the personal property belonging to said estate, to wit, the items set forth in the attached sale bill, to the persons named therein, for the prices set of forth the several items; these being the highest bidders therefore, and the prices named being the highest sums bidden for the several item and articles.

That I received in cash, as proceeds of said sale, the sun of $247.23 and in properly secured notes of the purchases, on items months time the sum of $520.56 aggregating the sum of $767.79.

Wherefore I ask that said sale may be confirmed –
