Before the Jacob Grim's estate could enter probate, Hiram Straight had to sign an Administrator's Bond.

"Know all Men by these Presents, That we, H.A. Straight principal and J.L. Barlow and Thomas Fields sureties, all of the County of Clackamas, and the State of Oregon, are held and firmly bound unto the people of said State in the sum of Six Thousand dollars, for the payment of which sum, well and truly to be made, we hereby bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators, jointly and severally, by these presents, as, witness our hands and seals, this 20th day of August, 1877.
The Condition of the above obligation is such, that whereas H.A. Straight has this day been appointed administrator of the estate of Jacob Grimm, late of said County, deceased: Now if the said H.A. Straight shall faithfully execute the duties of his said trust, according to law, then this obligation shall be void, otherwise to be and remain in full force and effect.
