In December of 1947, Janet McAdam Waning's younger sister, Agnes McAdam Ingvalson, sent a Christmas card with a short note. The themes for 1947 are Billy Waning's trip to Maine and Magna McAdam's illness.
Card - Cover
"Dear Folks -
Suppose Billie(1) is back by this time - Home for Xmas. I do hope his trip was all he hoped it to be.
Talked to Magna's(2) nurse a few days ago. M-- seems to be about the same, can sit up but not walk. It has turned so cold here & so much snow I am afraid I won't be able to go down very often. She said she was going to write to you girls.(3) I feel so badly that R-- (4) couldn't help her more than they have."
Card - Inside
"Julia(5) & I sent a Pkg not so much, but to let you know we think of you anyway. She has no worry over money now. Isn't that nice --
Love, Agnes"
Agnes McAdam Ingvalson and Janet McAdam Waning - 1935
1 Reference to Willard (Billy) Waning's trip back to Maine to visit friends and family.
2 Magna McAdam (Matthew McAdam Jr's wife) was ill - perhaps cancer - and was at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester.
3 Ella McAdam Caufield and Janet McAdam Waning.
4 "R--" - hmmm? Rob McAdam?
5 Julia - a long time friend - married an older man - Dr. Mebley - when he passed she was left reasonably well off - and was the object of some envy obviously.
